Consummate gentleman and veteran real estate broker Gil Robinov passed away on July 1 at the age of 87 after a long bout with lung cancer.
Robinov was most recently an executive managing director with MHP Real Estate Services. He had a 55-year track record leasing over 25 million square feet for Fortune 500 companies and major institutions. As an exclusive agent, he also represented more than 100 Manhattan office buildings.
With 185 foreign governments as members of the United Nations, Robinov became the industry leader in serving their specialized needs for offices and consulates.
As an executive vice president at the Sylvan Lawrence Company for 15 years, Robinov directed the leasing at its 75 Midtown and downtown office properties.
He previously worked with NAI Global’s International Advisory Group, GVA Williams, Riverbank Realty, which later merged into Galbreath New York, and CB Richard Ellis, where he was awarded the CB Richard Ellis Colbert Coldwell Circle Award four times.
Robinov was a faculty lecturer at the New York University Real Estate Institute and was nominated five times for the Real Estate Board of New York’s prestigious Ingenious Deal of the Year Award.
Graduating from CCNY in 1955 with a BA, Robinov was involved in student politics and became chairman of the College Academic Freedom Week.
Later, Robinov was active in many prominent Jewish organizations, temple boards and local civic associations in Harrison, NY, and served for 15 years on the executive board of Northeast Greenwich Association in Greenwich, Conn. He also played a leadership role in successfully developing the Solomon Schechter School of Westchester in White Plains, NY.
Robinov leaves his wife Felice, of 59 years, children Susan (Scott) Gould and David (Sharon) along with four grandchildren, Rachel, Bonnie, Greg and Ben.
The funeral was to be held on Tuesday morning at Temple Sholom in Greenwich.
