Publishing house W.W. Norton & Company signed a 95,000-square-foot renewal and expansion at 500 Fifth Ave. in Midtown.

For 40 years, the company has resided in the tower on the northwest corner of West 42nd Street, where it has 78,000 square feet. The renewal and expansion adds 17,000 square feet, so it will occupy the entire fifth through eighth floors and a portion of the ninth floor.

The Savills Studley team of Daniel Horowitz, Jeffrey Peck, Gary Kerper and Roi Shleifer represented the tenant, which has a robust electronic division and conducted an extensive search before deciding to remain in its longtime home. W.W. Norton expects to reconstruct and modernize its floors in three phases.

The ownership was represented by Harry Blair and Sean Kearns of Cushman & Wakefield. Asking rents range from $68 to $90 per square foot.
