Brookfield Place has snared another luxury tenant for the redesigned shopping area around the Winter Garden.

The Italian fashion house Salvatore Ferragamo has signed a lease for a 4,200 square-foot boutique, where it will sell shoes, handbags, luggage, belts, fine jewelry, silks, perfumes and eyewear along with Creative Director Massimiliano Giornetti’s premier ready-to-wear fashion collections.

The Ferragamo store will sit next to Burberry and near Hermes on the north side of the Winter Garden, which is getting a new glass pavilion entryway.

Contemporary retailers including Michael Kors and Calypso have also signed deals for a nearby corridor.

“We achieved a new high-water mark and have done several deals north of $400 a foot,” said Ed Hogan of Brookfield Properties, who directs the retail leasing but declined to give specifics. “Tenants realize the sales opportunity is there.”

While the $250 million grand reopening with the shops won’t take place for another year, the glass entry pavilion and escalators leading through the white marble-lined corridor to the PATH station at the World Trade Center should open this fall.

“Ten years ago, luxury wasn’t going downtown,” recalled Hogan. “Now, with three luxury brands, we are defining our center and are being viewed as the luxury option.”

Ferragamo was represented by Robert Gibson of Cushman & Wakefield. Brookfield was represented by Wendy Silverman a consultant with The McDevitt Co.
