Amid the changing retail landscape, the head of Cushman & Wakefield’s North American store group is jumping to Ripco Real Estate, a growing tri-state player, The Post has learned.

Gene Spiegelman, the veteran broker and Cushman vice chairman, advised company brass late Tuesday that he was leaving, sources said.

That Spiegelman is jumping not to one of Cushman’s global rivals but to Ripco — where he will become one of the three partners — came as a bit of a surprise, sources said.

“We are so like-minded,” said Ripco partner Peter Ripka, speaking of both Spiegelman and co-founder Todd Cooper. “We’ve worked together professionally and become friends — and the friendship doesn’t happen if the value and ethics part isn’t there.”

Since they founded Ripco in 1991, Ripka and Cooper have expanded to 70 brokers in four offices, including its most recent one in Brooklyn.

“This is not a lateral move, but about the opportunity to partner with Todd and Peter,” Spiegelman said. “I’m honored to come in as an owner and have the ability to be entrepreneurial.”

In different regions, Ripco works closely with big-box behemoths like Target, TJ Maxx and Petco, as well as Sephora, Shake Shack and Sweetgreen — along with property owners such as Related Cos., Kimco and Urban Edge.

As head of Cushman’s North America Retail Services, Spiegelman led US, Canada and Mexico and coordinated the company’s global cross-border retail initiatives.

Over 18 years with Cushman, Spiegelman was the company’s top retail producer in five years and won the Real Estate Board of New York’s Ingenious Deal of the Year Award twice.

Spiegelman’s most recent major assignment was to sublease the expensive and expansive former Ralph Lauren store on Fifth Avenue, which he will continue to oversee, he said.

Meanwhile, Ripco has been on a hiring spree, having quietly grown to the No. 2 retail leasing company in New York City. The leader, RKF, was acquired by Newmark Knight Frank just last month, leading to RKF’s Beth Rosen and Emily Simmonds moving to Ripco — and Spencer Levy being hired at CBRE.

Ripco’s partnership with the UK-based Time Retail Partners is also designed to help brands transition between countries.
