Sources say the New York Hotel and Motel Trades Council is working on a deal to lease a 67,750-square-foot hunk of its glamorous new downtown Brooklyn health care facility to another health care provider: Brooklyn Hospital Center.

The new 180,000-square-foot, 11-story building at 620 Fulton St. was designed by Francis Cauffman. It was the focus of political rivals Mayor de Blasio and Gov. Cuomo earlier this month when they participated in opening ceremonies.

To pay for its own space, the union’s plan was to lease the retail space and sixth floor through 12th floor penthouse, which Brooklyn Hospital is expected to occupy. The parties are negotiating and the deal is not yet signed.

Circle Realty Group represents the union while Ingram & Hebron Realty works for the hospital. Neither the companies or the union returned requests for comment.

Union President Peter Ward recently told the NY Times, “We’re occupying 65,000 square feet in a building that is in the hottest neighborhood in Brooklyn for no out-of-pocket expense. … We’re going to be living there for free.”
