We love good construction and celebrating those who take pride in their work product. Now, the British-based bespoke and ready-to-wear men’s tailor, Lutwyche, has taken its first shop in the US.

Lutwyche has leased the entire third floor of 2,950 square feet at 717-719 Madison Ave., which has great street presence through 40 feet of frontage and a huge terrace overlooking Madison Avenue. Its tall French doors lead to a grand space with soaring ceilings and includes a rear patio.

Joseph Aquino of Joseph A. Aquino Commercial Real Estate Services represented Lutwyche. The French-based ownership had an asking rent of $85 per square foot.

The new upper floor spot sits above Devi Kroell between East 63rd and 64th streets and opposite Beretta on a stretch of Madison Avenue filled with sartorial splendor and sparkling jewels.

Designer Tony Lutwyche, founded his eponymous brand in 2000 and took over a 1930s hand-tailoring workshop along with all its artisans in 2006. Headquartered in London’s Mayfair area, it provides services to the Savile Row trade as well as to Americans through Saks Fifth Avenue.

In the last year, the Madison Avenue BID points to a dozen new retailers that have debuted above East 57th Street. Ghurka, in fact, just opened last week at 831 Madison and is closing its Sherry-Netherland store at 781 Fifth Ave. at the end of July.
