Reid Hoffman is climbing up the spire.

The LinkedIn chief is linking into more space at the Empire State Building to give the company a total of 280,000 square feet.

The employment social network will grow by some 120,000 square feet with the addition of all of the third floor and the 26th floor. The company currently occupies 22, 23, 25 and 28 for a total of 135,000 square feet and parts of other floors.

Asking rents were in the low to mid-$60s for these large base floors.

Sacha Zarba of CBRE represented LinkedIn in the expansion.

The third floor was made available as Li & Fung consolidates its Global Brands operations. This floor had been up for sublease through a JLL team, but LinkedIn completed its transaction directly with Ryan Kass of Empire State Realty Trust, the real estate investment trust that owns the giant tower, sources said, along with its Newmark Grubb Knight Frank leasing team.

The 101 story tower is Platinum wired certified and energy efficient.
