Hotelier Richard Born and partner Ira Drukier have quietly paid $28 million for a vacant Midtown building they intend to renovate into a hotel.

The landmarked brick building at 149 E. 39th St. — in tony Murray Hill– was formerly used by the Salvation Army as a residence.

A Colliers team of Jonathan Plotkin, James Murphy and Robert Freedman marketed the property while Christian Portelli of Highcap Group brought in the Born team.

Born told The Post the 19-story building has a “spectacular top with a beautiful garden.”

The 2,000-square-foot roof deck also has a distinctive green copper roof.

There are currently many small rooms that also need updating as the building was a women’s residence since 1956.

While there are no definitive plans, renovations should start by the end of this year, Born said.
