The NYPD Bomb Squad has chosen a garage on West 26th Street for a new headquarters, and it’s eerily close to where the Chelsea Bomber rocked the city.

The garage picked by the Bomb Squad is located at 241 W. 26th St. between Seventh and Eighth avenues. Built in 1930 with an Art Deco flair, it includes 34,213 square feet among six stories.

But is the entry bay tall enough to host their special trucks? No matter. In an email, a spokesman for Citywide Administrative Services says, “… retrofits would be made to accommodate operational needs, including code compliance … The rent is still subject to negotiation and a final deal between the parties.”

The owner could not be reached, and the current garage operator did not return a call for comment.

The squad currently works out of the Sixth Precinct at 233 W. 10th St., which is also not too van-friendly.

The unit’s Pelham Bay Park training facilities in the Bronx near Rodman’s Neck were badly damaged during Superstorm Sandy and are scheduled for an entire redo designed by Rice + Lipka Architects.

In mid-September 2016, a bomb exploded on West 23rd Street and injured 31 people. A second device was left on West 27th Street.
