ASCAP is moving a few blocks down Broadway.

The storied musical trade group — whose name is an acronym for the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers — is moving into a space at 250 W. 57th St. on the southern block between Broadway and Eighth Avenue. The new offices will span 85,400 square feet and four floors.

ASCAP is currently located at 1900 Broadway, a few blocks uptown, near Lincoln Center.

The group collects and distributes performance royalties, and is known for its advocacy and career services for music creators.

Mary Ann Tighe, Ken Meyerson, Robert Hill and Brendan Herlihy of CBRE represented ASCAP in the long-term lease. Building owner Empire State Realty Trust was represented in-house by Keith Cody along with the Cushman & Wakefield team of Harry Blair, Sean Kearns and Heather Thomas.

The building, which has a new Gensler-designed lobby, new façade and new elevators, sits across from the future Central Park Tower that’s under construction by Gary Barnett’s Extell Development, which will house the city’s first Nordstrom department store.

The asking rent was $67 a square foot for the 12th floor, part of the 13th and 14th floors and $74 a square foot for the 20th floor.
