Joseph liked its pop-up store in Soho so much it has now signed a long-term lease to remain in 76 Greene St. between Spring and Broome Streets, next to the former Apple temporary store.
The 7,500-square-foot store was previously occupied by Dedon Furniture and encompasses 3,400 square feet on the ground and a 3,950-square-foot lower-level sales area.
Christopher Owles of Sinvin Real Estate and Robin Zendell of RZ Retail Advisors represented Joseph, which recently opened a second store at 1061 Madison on another booming fashion block.
A Cushman & Wakefield team of Chris Schwart, Alan Schmerzler and Steven Soutendijk worked for the building owners. Area asking rents are roughly $350 per foot.
The London-based company was started by the late Moroccan-born hairdresser Joseph Ettedgui, who, along with his brothers, nurtured many designers, including Kenzo, Azzedine Alaia, Yohji Yamamoto and Prada.
There were several stores located in the city when he sold the brand in 2005.
Ettedgui’s spirit lives on, guided by Creative Director Louise Trotter and a new initiative to push to relaunch in the Big Apple and open other world locations.
