Buildings that run on steam are slowly coming back to life.

“About half the customers are back,” said Mike Clendenin, a Con Edison spokesman. About 350 were restored as of yesterday morning with another 80 expected to have had steam power restored by last night.

Among the office buildings where workers will no longer have to wear sweaters were 140 Broadway and 111-115 Broadway.

“We are sitting in heated offices,” said one worker, declining to be identified.

“Most people have power and most people have heat, but there are specific steam issues, and day by day Con Ed is connecting more people,” said Liz Berger, president for the Alliance for Downtown.

A total of 561 buildings, mostly below 42nd Street, lost steam as the system was proactively shut to protect it from Hurricane Sandy.

The larger problem is that about 200 buildings are still without electricity — about 65 of which are on the tip of Manhattan, Clendenin said.

These include One New York Plaza, 55 Water St. and 180 Water St.
