The third and final part of the High Line has been turned over to the city.

CSX Transportation, which owned the 0.58-mile portion north of West 30th Street at the West Side Rail Yards, donated the section under the Federal Rails-to-Trails program, according to publicly filed deeds dated July 11.

The completion of the deal, which had been announced in principle last year, clears the way for the city to license the section to the Friends of the High Line to maintain and operate.

It will complete the park, consisting of an abandoned freight train line, which was opened to the public beginning with the first two sections in 2009 and 2011.
